In a study carried out in Thailand, researchers asked 50 obese women to follow a diet of 1,000 calories a day, along with a supplementary dietary “pill”. Half took a pill containing AHC and the other half, a placebo. After two months, the group treated with AHC had lost almost twice as much as the placebo group. According to the researchers, fundamentally weight loss “was due to a reduction in fat deposits.”
In another study published in the journal Nutrition, scientists put diets on laboratory animals for three weeks, in which they lost 20 percent of their weight.
During the following month, they let the animals eat as much as they wanted, as humans do after a low-calorie diet, but half of the animals received food sprayed with AHC; Well, the researchers observed that these animals ate less and regained less weight.
But this virtue is the latest addition to the long list of therapeutic benefits attributed to mangosteen.
